The University of Iowa Addiction & Recovery Collaborative (UI ARC) offers professional substance use evaluations, including court-ordered (legal) and non-legal assessments, to help individuals better understand their substance use and determine the best path forward.

Legal (Court-Ordered) Evaluations

UI ARC provides court-ordered substance use evaluations, including Operating While Intoxicated (OWI)assessments, for individuals referred by the legal system. These evaluations are often required after an arrest or citation and include:

  • A comprehensive assessment of substance use history
  • Recommendations for treatment, when appropriate
  • A written report for court or legal purposes

Cost: $125.00
Required Documentation: Legal documents (such as an arrest report) must be submitted before your evaluation.
Please email documentation to: OWI-AMC@uiowa.edu

Non-Legal Evaluations

UI ARC also offers non-legal substance use evaluations for individuals seeking help outside of the court system. These are ideal for anyone looking to better understand their relationship with substances and explore appropriate treatment options.

These evaluations include:

  • An assessment of substance use patterns
  • Identification of co-occurring mental health or psychosocial concerns
  • Development of a personalized treatment plan
